Bethany Baptist Church
The Home of Jesus' Friends in Gardner, MA

The American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” is a fun-filled, overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.

During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks around the country and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

The Gardner MA “Relay For Life” event is held each year at the Mt. Wachusett Community College (MWCC) track and field area on the 2nd week-end in June, from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.  Wayne Crespo is the lead organizer for the Bethany team, called “Heaven’s Hope.” Please see or contact him at 978-297-4239 to help support our team with a donation.

A Prayer Tent is available during the event for anyone who wants to come in for prayer. See Paula d'Entremont to sign up if you want to take part in this by being a prayer partner in the tent.

If you can’t be there, tune into the local cable channel, where it will be televised for the full 24 hours. So if you are up during the night, tune in and you will see one of the team walking.

In 2008, Paula and Fran d’Entremont performed the ribbon cutting at the opening ceremony and Paula carried the banner for the survivors at the 6 p.m. first lap. Bethany members Diane and Ted Cushing and others provided the music at the 9 p.m. luminaria program led by Paula. Anyone who cannot be there in person can tune in to the local cable channel, where the event is televised for the full 24 hours.
