Each
month we tell you what the children will be learning, any important
dates you should be aware of, including special events and programs
that you might need to bring something in for, as well as providing
reminders of various policies and things you need to know for the
particular month. Plus you'll see previews of what's coming up.

National Children's Dental Health Month
We will
be talking about Dental Health this month and will be stressing good
"Teeth Brushing Habits".If
any one works for a dentist or knows of someone who does, who can come
to the school and talk to the children, please let us know.
We encourage
parents who are helping their child to learn to write his/her name that
you use only the upper case letter for the beginning of the name and lower case
for the rest, which is required for Kindergarten. It is much easier for them to
learn the correct way to begin with than to relearn it later.
Suggestion: We are encouraging the older children to zip their own
jackets and "pack" their backpacks. The Kindergarten
teachers appreciate this. They also
suggested working on tying shoes.
BCNS Parent Involvement Month - March
We invite
any parent who would like to come in during March to do a craft, help with a
craft, play an instrument, read a special story, or read to the children, etc.,
to sign up by Mrs. Blais' room (near the party sign-up sheet.)
BCNS Birthday Snack Sign-up
The Birthday snack sign-up sheet next to the Parent's Bulletin Board
near Mrs. Blais' room is for those children who are celebrating their birthdays this month and next month.
Please check the schedule to see if the date
listed for your child is O.K. If not, please notify Mrs. Paddock.
We want to keep the snacks
nutritious. It is important that you become familiar with our Snack Policy here, concerning food labels and
hidden sources of nuts when considering your choice of a birthday snack.
We really appreciate the snacks being provided by the parents and only want to encourage you to consider more snacks such as fruits, celery, carrots, cheese & crackers, etc. Also, if you are planning to invite some of the nursery school children to your child's birthday party at home, we ask that you mail their invitations instead of passing them out at school so as not to have any hurt feelings for those who may not be invited. Thank you.
Please
reinforce with your child that there is no sharing of daily snacks or bringing
in a snack for a friend.
Regular
snack:Please have only one drink and one snack for
your child. More than this is confusing for your child and takes time away from
our daily schedule. Thank you!!
Valentine's Day Party
The Valentine's
Day Party will be from 10:15-11:15 a.m. for the A.M. sessions and 1:30-2:30 p.m. for the afternoon session. We
will need 2 or 3 parents to help us as we did for the Christmas Party.
Like for the Christmas Party, we will
need 2 or 3 parents to help us.
Sign-up
sheets for the party snacks, juice boxes, napkins and plates are on the wall
next to Mrs. Blais' room. We encourage nutritional snacks, no peanut products.
Children
may exchange Valentine cards. Each child will be decorating a bag to be saved
for the day of the party. Children may mail their cards (with your assistance)
in the bags that have been decorated for this purpose when you bring your child
in on the day of the party. Each bag will have the child’s name on it to make
mailing easier. (See the class roster in the printed newsletter for addressing cards.)

Please
DO NOT mail your tuition to the Treasurer’s address. You may use the mailbox at
school to deposit your tuition, or mail it to our school’s address: 72 Ryan

BCNS Dressing for Cold Weather
Outdoor Clothing:
Please dress your child to play outside, as we
will try to get out as often as possible, as the weather permits (hat, mittens,
gloves, warm jacket).In very
cold weather, it might be wise to have the children dress warmly with an extra
sweater or sweatshirt. Please update
your child's backpack with the appropriate size and a weather-related change
of clothes.
Also, when boots are worn to school, please send in shoes, sneakers
or slippers (with soles or grips) to be worn inside. Boots make
"hot feet" when worn too long. Put boots in the hall where you first enter. You may want to clip them together
with a clothespin with your child's name on it, or write names in the
boots.
On snowy days, please do not send your child into school with a
snowsuit for outside play. We will let you know in advance when we plan a
snow play day. Therefore, children only need to wear
jackets, hats, mittens and boots to school...no snowsuits.
PLEASE remember to put your child’s name inside his/her
coat, jacket and hat, and to tuck mittens and hat in one of the sleeves when
hanging it up. Children
can't always remember which are theirs.
Even if your child’s coat/jacket has a hood attached, please
send them in with a hat because it is hard for them to see with just a hood
while playing, especially
on the big wheels.
