Growing up in the home of a pastor, Dan Meiners was converted at a young age. He dedicated his life to the Lord at a Youth for Christ rally when in high school in Schenectady, NY.
Dan resisted the call to the ministry during his college years, looking for something else God was calling him to do, but finally coming to the conclusion that Paul's exclamation in 1 Corinthians 9:16, "Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!" was being used by the Holy Spirit, in application to his own life. He also began to preach while in college.
Pastor Meiners has always believed that he was especially blessed in his personal spiritual nourishment, in that he learned the truth in a home where it was spoken of much, attended church and Sunday School every week, attended a deeper-life oriented camp with his parents all summer for his first 18 years (Peniel Bible Conference), and studied under godly people in college and seminary. Because of this, he felt especially called to the spiritual nourishment of believers, but has also been often used by the Lord in personal evangelism.
Pastor Meiners received his BA in Philosophy from Gordon College and his MDiv. from Westminster Theological Seminary. He has been Bethany's pastor since 1986, and celebrated the 30th anniversary of his ordination to ministry in May 2004.
