2009 Women's Retreat at Peniel Bible Conference

During
the week-end of Nov. 6-8, 2009, over 20 women from around the country attended a
Christian women’s retreat at the Peniel
Bible Conference
Center in Lake
Luzerne NY in the Adirondacks Mountains, led by Susan Meiners, a
pastor’s wife of 35 years, mother and grandmother.

The theme
of the retreat was “Breaking the Curse,” with sessions that covered:
- “Blessings
vs. Curses” (Deuteronomy)
- “Giving
God the Core” (Malachi)
- “A Better Way”
(Hebrews)
- “Choose
Life” (Various New Testament Scriptures)
According
to Sue, “God has a blessing for Christian women that God does not want them to
miss. It begins with understanding that, on the Cross, Jesus bore all our
curses and purchased all the blessings we will
ever need. The Holy Spirit’s work is applying the finished work of Christ to
our daily lives.”
Five
other women from Bethany
Baptist Church
attended: Carolyn Abbott, Neva Paul, Pam Kotoch, Georgette Hodgson, and Rachel
Lindel.
So that the conference center’s co-director could also attend the retreat, three of Bethany’s young men came along to provide meal preparation. Andre Goguen, Greg Kotoch and Tom Meiners did an outstanding job in the kitchen and made sure we were well-nourished.
